Questions concerning the payment

Do I get my money cash?

No. In earlier times it was usual to be paid after wrap. Nowadays you get your money via bank transfer to an account of your choice.

How long does the transfer take?

Usually you have to plan 14 working days – but this time starts when the concerned office has all the needed papers and you filled out the extras payment form correctly.

Which documents do I have to take with me?

Pupils and apprentices, students, self-employed and freelancers and retired persons are required to verify their social status with a copy of the corresponding document.

Who needs to work with a wage tax card?

Unemployed, people who do military services or alternative services, trainees (not within school), everyone who gets any kind of money from the government (except BAFÖG and BAB), employees who get money for staying home with the child and employees in unpaid holidays have to bring in their wage tax card.
Someone who is working with a wage tax card is employed. He has to pay income tax and social security contributions but at the end of the year you can get this money back in your annual adjustment of income tax.

Where do I leave my documents?

You should take your copies to the set and leave them there together with your extras payment form.

The unemployment office needs a paper about my extras income?

No problem. Ideally you take it with you to the set and leave it with your other documents. You can also bring it in afterwards. Just send it (ideally with a stamped return envelope) to your current employer.

Who is my employer anyway?

In former times it was the production company. Nowadays this function is more and more done by independent financial service provider. When you feel unsure, give us a call but be aware that we will never need your documents!

I have no German citizenship

We still like to work with you :-)
When you are a citizen from the older EU states you don't need special documents.
When you are a citizen from the new states like Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Rumania, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary and Cyprus plus all citizens from non EU-States, you need a copy of your residence permit and your employment permit, which you hand out on your shooting day with your other documents.

Another hint (or two)

The social security number is not the number from your health insurance card. It consists of two numbers: your date of birth, first letter of your birth name and again three numbers.

To answer the question for your health insurance it is not enough to write BKK which is just the short form for Betriebskrankenkasse. Correct would be for example BKK VBU for Betriebskrankenkasse der Verkehrsbauunion. Place of health insurance is normally the city, so BKK VBU Berlin.
